HISTOIRE DE L’ŒIL

Histoire de L’Oeil, is a video inspired by George Bataille where we see dozens of vaginas transform into an ensemble of absurdist eyes.

In contrast to traditional depictions of the vagina as a vulnerable symbol for commercial exploitation of the female body, Histoire de L’Oeil acknowledges the suffering associated with the female body, confronting rape and abuse by transforming female parts into a voyeuristic arsenal. The once enigmatic vagina, a symbol of life’s origin, now faces the spectator with existential interrogation using humor to rile subconscious sexual apprehensions.

The transformation of genitals into eyes disrupts preconceived notions of viewer and subject, deconstructing the phenomena of perception through confrontation. Mainstream viewpoints hinder the opportunity for freedom of understanding and ultimate empowerment.

EVA is an interactive and cinematographic installation by the filmmaker Marcela Said (Los perros) and the architect Cristián Valdés, who reflects on gender violence and femicide. Her name refers to the first biblical woman condemned since her conception. There will be FOUR different stories taken from real events that the spectator will be able to hear and see. In addition, works by two visual artists who also worked on the subject of gender violence will be shown: “If I died before I woke up” by Liu Marino, a video that addresses the issue of guilt and the cultural trap of inferiority that allows abuse and abuse to women And also “History of the eye” by María Gracia Donoso, a work that recognizes the suffering associated with the female body, confronting rape and abuse by transforming the female genitals into a voyeuristic arsenal.
