Untitled 2013

UNTITLED

Untitled is a video installation that pieces together films, featuring hundreds     of babies, compiled over four years of obsessive documentation. Each infant in the mass remains anonymous in this ode to an unnamed fetus, an exploration of a loss of identity. The shadow of that fetus informs the subtext of the piece, overpopulation.

By deploying a range of mediums, Untitled is deliberately a multi-sensory overload comprised of visual and sound works that evoke a sense of urgency and skew perception to rile profound feelings of abandonment from the subconscious.

Handmade screens display intimate portraits of the infants, erupting with the roar of hundreds of simultaneous cries. The duel of the cries versus the silence parallels the notions of being and nothingness. This humanistic experience alludes to our own anonymous embryonic origin. Life itself is nothing until it is lived to give it meaning.
