La Crèation 2004
La Creation is a series of photographic and video documentation of a performance with five dancers that explores the aesthetics of our desires to live.
The dancers are bound in plastic, transformed into simpler forms whose movements palpitate behind a screen of Japanese paper. The conscious and subconscious movements of the dancers in conjunction with the space and light, transform the figures from physical forms into abstractions enlightened by a boundless history of figurative paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
La Creation symbolizes identity, spiritualism, creation, and the drive for freedom through expression using the body as language. It is a vocabulary that threads together the story of our identity and origin, challenging expectations of what our anatomy can and should represent.
